Escher Cats! – Catwoman #41!

I’m just going to call this case of the oversized exposition and peculiar buttshots. Same writer as the previous story arc so … the quality can already be guessed at. But if you want to watch a macho guy talk into a tape recorder about Catwoman for most of a comic issue, this is your story.

My overwhelming emotion is just boredom though.

Seriously. With everyone else roaming Gotham, why is Gordon suddenly a man possessed about the Batman antagonist who doesn’t kill. He still delegates though, so we just get page after page of miffed ex-marine talking into a tape recorder. Intercut with butt shots of Catwoman with her cats.

The dialogue is tragically boring. And sometimes quite awkward. Some of it also seems like the most stilted, poorly done “Previously on Catwoman…” filler.

Yeah, I'm not super impressed by Doug Moench as a Catwoman writer.

I’d really like to be done with the darn diary and shrine and poor treatment of Catwoman’s mother (and her mother’s suicide). But we’re not done. Not done at all.

As always, Catwoman and all her comics and her eventually fighting Mr. Grumpy Tape-Recorder (and then finding and taking her inexplicable childhood diary. with cats on the cover.) belong to DC Comics, and Escher Girls is the creation of the awesome Ami Angelwings. And the Escher Girls bingo card belongs to the Escher Girls fan who created it.
