Escher Cats! – Catwoman #38!

This issue marks the start of Catwoman Year Two, which I can say … is at least not as bad as Her Sister’s Keeper.

I'm not sure whether to be bored or bothered by this issue. But letting out someone like the Joker, especially just as a distraction so she can steal something, does not seem like this Catwoman at all. A different Catwoman maybe, with a different Joker (and Penguin and Two-Face), but not this one.

Seriously. This issue implies that Catwoman gets the idea for wearing a purple costume from the Joker. And has her let the Joker, Two–Face, and Penguin out of prison. Just to distract Batman so she can pull off a heist.

I’m not sure I can really sum this issue up (Catwoman wants to steal a dollhouse, Two-Face, Penguin, and Joker fail at their appeal but might have a civil case if Batman can be proved to be real, Batman …. takes a shower and attempts to arrest/have chemistry with Catwoman) so … on to the cover!

Yeah. I'm really not a fan of this issue, especially given how enjoyable (most of) the Year One stories for Catwoman were.

This cover is mostly just boring so … at least the cover accurately reflects the contents?

Don't let Harvey Dent represent you in court. Or have Joker anywhere near your side.

I feel like Penguin gets how I feel. Or at least has the right facial expression for it.

I guess at least this isn't like the bath scene inside the issue. The art makes it look like her terrified cats were inside the bath with her given how they're leaping.

I wasn’t quite sure what to mark for this but her left leg is really not positioned comfortably and naturally, even for a crouch. And while her torso is tilted forward, her breasts do seem to be defying gravity and trying to escape their fate of being in this boring story.

Stay tuned for the next … exciting issue and, as always, Catwoman and all her stories of varying quality¬†belong to DC Comics, and Escher Girls is the creation of the awesome Ami Angelwings. And the Escher Girls bingo card belongs to the Escher Girls fan who created it.
