Escher Cats! – Catwoman #28!

I’m Nick Fury and I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative. I mean …

Wait til you see the cover. And the team.

I really love the panel with the close-up of Catwoman’s retractable glove knives/claws and the panel after that, with the backlit glowing silhouette of her. Plus the whole not-Avengers-Initiative thing.

And in the case of the guy with the fox tail attached to his bandana ... neither Catwoman or I would particularly mind him suffering some painful Balent contortions.

This cover has some of the same problems as the previous one (I’m seriously guessing this is around when the paperstock used on the comic changed) but I really don’t think it’s as bad. And Balent really just wanted to push his action pose. The guys in the group are not going to get immunity from broken legs for the sake of action poses either.

Poor Mouse. Plus poor comic issue, because the quality of the art is much different from the covers. For now.

I take my words back a little. The longer you look at this cover the worse it gets. The base problem is still pushing anatomy too far for the sake of the action pose but the new way of drawing and coloring the suit really ups the awkward bust area and level of shine on the suit. And there just isn’t enough torso to support the type of bust area this cover is giving Selina. And Mouse is somehow rappelling downwards to their mission in a boobs and butt pose. Or something verrrry close to it.

Beware people trying to recruit you into surprise teams for a heist (and guys named Slyfox) and, as always, the Catwoman comics belong to DC Comics, not me, and Escher Girls is the creation of the awesome Ami Angelwings. And the Escher Girls bingo card belongs to the Escher Girls fan who created it.
